Jen’s Journey Inspiration Has Been Called to Heaven…

As you may recall, we hosted a successful show this summer for Jen Kiffor, raising nearly $2,000 to help Jen with her treatment. Just wanted to update all of my Asylum fans, Jen’s supporters, and those who helped sponsor the event that Jen has passed away.

Jen left us for heaven on 11/10/2011 at 11:26am. Her liver began shutting down the night before. The doctors predicted she would fall into a coma by today (Friday, 11/11) and slowly shut down following her liver failure. She ended up going quicker than expected.

Her family and friends all thank you for your prayers and wishes helping her live as long as she has through this terrible disease.

If you would like to send donations in lieu of her passing through flowers and cards, please send them to the following address for Jen’s family, Julian [her son] and Zack [her husband] for their move back to Florida. Zack wants Julian to get to know his mother by being around Jen’s family. Jen left us with a beautiful child and a great husband.

Detroit Fashion Week-2011

Detroit Fashion Week was over all a very successful journey for myself and Asylum Fashion House. The journey was a long one… Driving from Orlando all the way to Michigan took about 20+ hours… by MYSELF!! But I did it, and was safe both there and back. Not too bad of weather either, thank GOD!!

Sunday night, Sept. 18th, I had model fittings as soon as I pulled in to my hotel after 11 hours of driving, from there my model Leah Turner, accompanied me to the Blueprint Press Party. Met a ton of photographers and am excited to see all the pics!

Throughout the week I stayed up in Bay City/Saginaw with some family and caught up on good ol’ times!! Went to Frankenmuth with a cousin and had a nice drinking escapade there. What an awesome little German town!! I’d love to go back. Besides how desolate Saginaw seems compared to Orlando, I really enjoyed it and would love to go back…

Saturday, Sept. 24th, I went back to Detroit for the Designer Showcase… LET ME TELL YOU… MY GIRLS (AND GUY) ROCKED THAT RUNWAY like it wasn’t anybody’s business!!There were tons of photographers and I met some local editors, so hopefully something will pop up with ASYLUM FASHION HOUSE in it around the Detroit area!! Check out the video below that I found on YouTube posted by one of my models (Jill Oliver).

Jen’s Journey Results!

Thank you to all of you who came out to the Jen’s Journey event! It was a huge success and has inspired me to keep helping people in using my fashion design and event planning skills!

We raised nearly $2,000 for Jen and her family. She will be using this money to go towards her Vitamin C treatments that cost $150 per treatment! Having a 4 month old baby AND cancer…. EXPENSIVE!!!!!! You know, you never really know how much you take life for granted until you know someone who’s life path is being controlled by something incurable and uncontrollable. Jen has inspired me not only as a mother myself, but as a woman. It really takes a strong person to fight what she is fighting, and being a wonderful mom at the same time!
